Pearland’s 125th Anniversary Captured in Commissioned Work
The Pearland Convention & Visitors Bureau has commissioned a local artist, Ange Hillz, to paint a one of kind piece of art for the City of Pearland’s 125th anniversary in 2019. Hillz will paint live at the 5th annual Pearland Art & Crafts Show under the pavilion at Pearland Town Center, 11200 Broadway Street, on Saturday, October 6 from 1 to 4 p.m.
Watching Hillz paint is fascinating as a curved line becomes a neck, a blob of paint morphs into a piercing eye, and lips appear naturally from two jagged lines. Color, color and more paint colors are mixed, blended and spread to convey Hillz emotions and thoughts. Children are mesmerized by live painting the Hillz booth is a must-see for young families attending the art show.
Hillz grew up in Rwanda, his love of art lead him to the United States where he was able to further develop his craft. He has conquered different styles of painting ranging from surrealism and speed painting to pop art. A current collection of bright and engaging masterpieces of celebrities, patriotic figures and sport icons is called Life in Colors.
On Sunday, October 7 starting at 10:30 a.m., National Art Honor Society students from Shadow Creek High School will paint a pear (under the pavilion) with the 125th anniversary theme.
